Turku Castle — Finland's most visited castle, founded in the 1280s at the mouth of the Aura River. The massive stone fortress houses a historical museum with medieval banquet halls and Renaissance-era chambers.

Smoked Salmon (Savulohi) — Finland's signature fish — cold-smoked or hot-smoked Atlantic salmon, served on rye bread, in soup, or with new potatoes and dill. Buy it fresh from the Market Hall.

Korvapuusti — Finnish cinnamon rolls — large, fragrant, and cardamom-spiced. Every cafe serves them, and they're the perfect companion to Finnish coffee (the world's highest per-capita consumption).

Lihapiirakka — A Finnish meat pie — a rice-and-meat filled pastry often enjoyed with mustard. A classic grab-and-go snack from market stalls and kiosks throughout the city.

Kalakukko — A traditional Finnish fish bread — vendace or perch baked inside a rye crust. Originally from eastern Finland but available at Turku's Market Hall and bakeries.
