Medina of Tunis — One of the best-preserved Arab medinas in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Winding alleys, covered souks, 700 monuments, and centuries of layered Islamic architecture.

Bardo Museum — Housed in a stunning 19th-century Beylic palace, the Bardo holds the world's largest and most extraordinary collection of Roman mosaics — rescued from sites across Tunisia. Absolutely unmissable.

Carthage Ruins — The scattered ruins of the great Phoenician-Roman city spread across a hillside suburb. Visit the Antonine Baths (the largest Roman baths in Africa), the Tophet, Punic ports, and the hilltop Byrsa.

Sidi Bou Said — A stunningly picturesque village of whitewashed houses with blue doors and shutters perched on a cliff above the Mediterranean. Cobblestone streets, jasmine, bougainvillea, and panoramic sea views.

Zitouna Mosque — The largest and oldest mosque in Tunis, founded in 732 AD. Its beautiful courtyard is open to non-Muslim visitors and the surrounding souk streets are the medina's most atmospheric.

Local Food

Couscous — Tunisia's national dish — steamed semolina topped with a fragrant lamb or fish stew with vegetables, chickpeas, and harissa. Every family has their own recipe. Friday couscous is a weekly tradition.

Brik à l'oeuf — A thin, crispy pastry triangle filled with a runny egg, tuna, capers, and parsley, deep-fried until golden. Eating it without breaking the yolk is the local challenge. Tunisia's iconic street snack.

Poisson Complet — A whole grilled fish (usually dorade or loup de mer) served with mechouia salad (grilled peppers and tomatoes), frites, and harissa. Best enjoyed at a La Marsa or La Goulette seafood restaurant.

Makroudh & Bambalouni — Makroudh — semolina pastries stuffed with dates and fried in olive oil. Bambalouni — Tunisian fried doughnuts dusted in sugar, sold hot from street carts. Pair with mint tea.
