Skanderbeg Square — The massive central square named after Albania's national hero, surrounded by the National Museum, Opera House, Et'hem Bey Mosque, and the clock tower. Recently redesigned as a pedestrian space.

Bunk'Art 1 — A massive communist-era nuclear bunker converted into a powerful museum exploring Albania's history under Enver Hoxha's regime. Over 100 rooms deep underground.

Bunk'Art 2 — A smaller bunker in the city center focusing on the Sigurimi (secret police) and political persecution. Haunting exhibits in the tunnels beneath the Interior Ministry.

Et'hem Bey Mosque — A beautifully painted Ottoman mosque dating to 1794 with exquisite interior frescoes. One of the few religious buildings to survive the communist regime's anti-religion campaign.

National History Museum — Albania's largest museum with exhibits spanning from Illyrian times through the communist era. The massive mosaic on the facade depicts Albanian heroism through the ages.

Local Food

Byrek — Flaky phyllo pie filled with cheese (djath), spinach (spinaq), or meat (mish). Albania's national fast food, bought from bakeries everywhere for under 100 ALL.

Qofte — Grilled Albanian meatballs made from a mix of beef and lamb with herbs. Served with fresh bread, yogurt, and a shopska salad. A staple at traditional restaurants.

Tavë Kosi — Albania's national dish — lamb baked in yogurt and eggs until golden and set like a savory custard. Rich, tangy, and comforting. Found at every traditional restaurant.

Grilled Fish — Fresh trout from Lake Ohrid or sea bass from the coast, simply grilled with olive oil and lemon. Albanian seafood is excellent and much cheaper than neighboring Greece.
