Chorsu Bazaar — A massive domed bazaar that has been the commercial heart of Tashkent for centuries. Spice mountains, freshly baked non bread, dried fruits, and the intoxicating bustle of Uzbek daily life under a turquoise dome.

Khast Imam Complex — A serene complex of mosques, madrasas, and mausoleums housing the world-famous Uthman Quran — one of the oldest Quran manuscripts in existence, dating to the 7th century.

Tashkent Metro — Each station is a unique work of art — chandeliers, mosaics, marble columns, and Soviet-era murals. Kosmonavtlar station celebrates space exploration, while Alisher Navoi features ornate ceilings.

Amir Timur Square — A grand public square anchored by an equestrian statue of Timur (Tamerlane), surrounded by the Hotel Uzbekistan, chiming clock tower, and Amir Timur Museum. The symbolic centre of the nation.

Local Food

Plov (Osh) — Uzbekistan's iconic rice dish — fragrant with cumin, studded with tender lamb, chickpeas, carrots, and garlic. Each region has its own style. Tashkent's version features a rich, oily base called zirvak.

Non (Lepyoshka) — Circular flatbread stamped with decorative patterns and baked in a tandoor clay oven. Bought fresh from the bazaar, non is the centrepiece of every Uzbek meal and never placed face-down.

Shashlik & Samsa — Skewered lamb or beef kebabs grilled over charcoal, served with raw onion and vinegar. Samsa are flaky pastry pockets filled with spiced meat and onion, baked in tandoor ovens.

Lagman — Hand-pulled noodles in a rich, spiced broth with lamb, peppers, tomatoes, and herbs. Lagman bridges Uzbek and Uyghur culinary traditions and is a hearty lunch staple across Tashkent.
