Town Hall Square (Raekoja plats) — The stunning central square dominated by the Gothic Town Hall (1404), one of the oldest in Northern Europe. The square hosts the famous Christmas market and summer cafes.

Toompea Hill & Castle — The fortified hilltop with the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) in the medieval castle, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and two spectacular viewing platforms over the lower town rooftops.

Local Food

Verivorst (Blood Sausage) — Estonia's beloved blood sausage with barley, served with sauerkraut and lingonberry jam. Especially popular during Christmas but available year-round at traditional restaurants.

Estonian Black Bread (Leib) — Dark, dense rye bread is a cornerstone of Estonian cuisine — almost sacred. Served with every meal. Try it with butter and smoked fish, or as leivapuder (bread porridge dessert).

Kiluvõileib (Sprat Sandwich) — An open-faced sandwich with marinated Baltic sprats, boiled egg, and fresh herbs on dark rye bread. A quintessential Estonian snack found at markets and cafes.

Wild Game & Mushrooms — Estonians forage extensively. Wild mushroom soups, elk stew, and game dishes feature on autumn menus. Try them at restaurants in Kalamaja or Telliskivi.
