Angkor Wat — The crown jewel of Khmer architecture, this 12th-century Hindu-turned-Buddhist temple is the largest religious monument on Earth. Sunrise over the reflecting pools is one of travel's most iconic moments.

Bayon Temple — The enigmatic centrepiece of the ancient city of Angkor Thom, adorned with over 200 massive serene stone faces gazing in every direction. The bas-reliefs depict daily life in the Khmer empire.

Ta Prohm — Left largely unrestored, this atmospheric temple is being slowly consumed by massive silk-cotton and strangler fig trees whose roots grip the ancient stones. Made famous by the film Tomb Raider.

Tonle Sap Lake — A vast freshwater lake with remarkable floating and stilted villages where communities live entirely on the water. Boat tours offer insight into this extraordinary way of life.

Pub Street — The buzzing pedestrianised heart of Siem Reap's social scene with bars, restaurants, and street food stalls. Lively after dark with cheap drinks, live music, and a backpacker-friendly atmosphere.

Fish Amok — Cambodia's national dish — freshwater fish steamed in a rich coconut curry with kroeung (lemongrass paste) and slok ngor leaves, served in a banana leaf cup. Creamy and aromatic.

Lok Lak — Stir-fried beef cubes with peppered lime dipping sauce, served with rice, lettuce, tomato, and a fried egg. A beloved Cambodian comfort food found everywhere.

Nom Banh Chok — Khmer noodles — fresh rice noodles topped with a green fish-based curry made from lemongrass, turmeric, and kaffir lime. Cambodia's favourite breakfast, sold from street carts each morning.

Sticky Rice with Mango — Sweet glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk, served with fresh ripe mango slices. Simple, sweet, and the perfect end to a meal — or a refreshing street food snack.
