Local Food

Tacos al Pastor — Spit-roasted pork marinated in achiote and dried chillies, shaved onto small corn tortillas and topped with pineapple, onion, and cilantro. The city's signature street food, perfected at taquerías across CDMX.

Mole — Mexico's most complex sauce — dozens of ingredients including chillies, chocolate, nuts, and spices ground into a rich, dark sauce served over chicken or enchiladas. Each region has its own version.

Tlacoyos — Thick oval masa cakes stuffed with beans, cheese, or chicharrón, then griddled and topped with nopales (cactus), cream, and salsa. An ancient Aztec food still served at markets across the city.
