Paju\u00e7ara Beach — The most popular urban beach with a vibrant promenade, craft fair, and boat trips to the famous Paju\u00e7ara natural pools (piscinas naturais) at low tide.

Natural Pools of Paju\u00e7ara — At low tide, jangada boats ferry visitors to natural pools formed by coral reefs 2 km offshore. Crystal-clear water with colourful fish \u2014 bring snorkelling gear.

Lagoa Mundau — A large tidal lagoon connected to the sea, lined with stilted restaurants and fishing communities. Take a boat tour through the channels and mangroves.

Local Food

Sururu — Small mangrove mussels cooked in coconut milk \u2014 the soul food of Alagoas. Served as a stew with rice and farofa, or in a rich broth.

Tapioca — Crispy or soft cassava crepes filled with coconut, cheese, condensed milk, or savoury fillings. A popular breakfast and snack all along the coast.

Peixe Frito na Brasa — Whole fish grilled over charcoal and served with vinaigrette, farofa, rice, and fresh salad. Best enjoyed at a beachside barraca with your feet in the sand.

Acaraj\u00e9 Alagoano — Deep-fried black-eyed pea fritters stuffed with vatap\u00e1 (shrimp paste) and caruru. The Alagoan version is slightly different from Bahia\u2019s but equally delicious.
