Ljubljana Castle — A 12th-century castle crowning the hill above the old town, reached by funicular or a 10-minute walk. Houses a museum, chapel, and viewing tower with 360-degree views of the city and the Alps.

Triple Bridge (Tromostovje) — Three elegant bridges spanning the Ljubljanica River, designed by architect Jože Plečnik. The central bridge dates to 1842; Plečnik added two pedestrian bridges in the 1930s. The city's most recognisable landmark.

Prešeren Square — The vibrant heart of the city, named after Slovenia's greatest poet. Surrounded by art nouveau buildings, the Franciscan Church, and buzzing cafes. The meeting point of old and new Ljubljana.

Central Market & Dragon Bridge — A lively open-air market designed by Plečnik, selling fresh produce, cheeses, and flowers along the riverbank. Nearby, the Dragon Bridge (1901) features four copper dragon statues — the city's symbol.

Metelkova City — A former Yugoslav army barracks transformed into a vibrant alternative culture centre with street art, galleries, music venues, and bars. Ljubljana's creative and counterculture heart.

Local Food

Štruklji — Rolled dumplings filled with cottage cheese, walnuts, tarragon, or apple. Boiled or baked, they're Slovenia's comfort food, served as a main course or dessert.

Kranjska Klobasa — Carniolan sausage — a smoked pork sausage with a protected EU geographical indication. Served with sauerkraut and mustard, it's Slovenia's most famous meat product.

Jota — A hearty stew of beans, sauerkraut or turnips, and smoked pork, originating from the Karst region. Thick, warming, and deeply flavourful — perfect on a cold Ljubljana day.

Kremšnita (Kremna Rezina) — Slovenia's beloved cream cake: layers of flaky pastry sandwiching thick vanilla custard and whipped cream. The most famous version comes from Lake Bled, but Ljubljana's bakeries do it justice.
