Nike Art Gallery — A five-story gallery founded by Nike Davies-Okundaye, showcasing thousands of contemporary Nigerian artworks — paintings, textiles, sculptures, and batik. A vibrant celebration of Nigerian creativity.

Lekki Conservation Centre — A 78-hectare nature reserve with Africa's longest canopy walkway (401 meters), swinging above the mangrove forest. Home to monkeys, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife in the heart of Lagos.

Freedom Park — A former colonial prison transformed into an open-air cultural center with gardens, performance spaces, and historical exhibits. Regular live music events, art exhibitions, and festivals.

National Museum Lagos — Houses important Nigerian artifacts including Benin Bronzes, Nok terracotta figures, and contemporary Nigerian art. The grounds also include the first Government House of colonial Lagos.

Lekki Market — A sprawling open-air market selling African crafts, woodcarvings, leather goods, beadwork, and textiles. Haggling is intense but part of the fun — start at a third of the asking price.

Local Food

Jollof Rice — Nigeria's most beloved dish and subject of the eternal West African 'Jollof Wars' — smoky, tomato-based one-pot rice cooked with peppers, spices, and served with fried plantain and grilled chicken.

Suya — Spicy grilled beef skewers coated in yaji — a fiery groundnut and spice rub. Sold at roadside suya spots across Lagos from dusk onwards. Best enjoyed with sliced onions and tomatoes.

Pounded Yam & Egusi Soup — Smooth, stretchy pounded yam served with egusi (melon seed) soup rich with spinach, stockfish, and assorted meats. A Yoruba classic and one of Nigeria's most satisfying meals.

Puff Puff & Akara — Puff puff — sweet, deep-fried dough balls dusted with sugar. Akara — crispy bean cakes fried golden. Both are beloved Lagos street snacks found at every corner, especially at breakfast.
